A message from Headteacher, Mrs Elise Piper-Hadfield
Hello and welcome to Longford CofE Primary School, a small village school, where children are placed at the centre of everything we do.
Our core values of empathy, respect, kindness, cooperation and resilience are central to everything we do and this is clear to see throughout school life, as well as through our inclusive and diverse curriculum which enables all children to develop a love of learning.
Through learning about a wide range of topics – from ‘Our Farming Community’ and ‘Foods around the World’ in Infants, to ‘Natural Disasters’, ‘City Life’ and ‘The Windrush Generation’ in KS2, we support children to be open-minded and respectful individuals with a broad range of knowledge. It is important to us that all of our children see themselves, people they know and people they do not know represented across the curriculum and our wide range of books support this. We LOVE books at Longford!
Visitors to Longford will see that we pride ourselves upon the strong relationships within the community. All of our staff know all of the children. Our Reception children have Y6 buddies and we love to go on whole-school village walks together. Our children are enthusiastic about and dedicated to their learning, which we bring to life through unique experiences, including trips and visitors within school. The children’s resilience within their learning alongside appropriate levels of support and challenge for their individual needs, ensures that children thrive within school and make positive progress throughout their time with us. We are also very proud of our academic outcomes at the end of KS2.
We also acknowledge the importance of children’s wellbeing and how it impacts upon learning experiences. Children are taught that we learn from our mistakes and that this is where the greatest opportunities for learning take place. Every child is seen as individual and their differences are supported and celebrated.
